Malongo Greenhouse

Here are some pictures of our on-site Greenhouse where we grow our own Salad produce (Lettuce, Cucumber, Tomatoes & Peppers). We use around 150Kg of tomatoes, 60Kg Lettuce, 80Kg of Cucumber and around 40-50Kg of fresh Bell Peppers each day here in Malongo. And we send even more than that to the Off-shore platforms each day which is delivered either by Helicopter or Boat.

We have recently changed our production methods at the Greenhouse, where we have started to use a new soil composite and space-saving grow bags. This will almost double our production and improve the quality and size of the items we grow.

We have a dedicated Greenhouse team who focus on providing the Main Kitchen, Salad Bar and Off Shore platforms with good quality produce every singe day. The demand for produce is so high that we do not currently have the capacity to grow more items, and we also have to go careful that we do not grow so much that we take business away from our local suppliers whose business's rely on our need for Fresh Fruit and Vegetables. As the majority of all our customers here are Angolan, they particularly enjoy the local Vegetables that we buy in (such as the Sacafolha shown in an earlier post). We are obliged to use these local suppliers to help the local community and business's so we will always be limited on what we grow ourselves.
